FUBA Legislative Agenda
Workers’ Compensation Insurance
FUBA supports the complete elimination of all construction exemptions. We do not support eliminating exemptions for non-construction businesses, because there is no evidence of fraud in that area of the market. We will not support any reform that increases costs.
Taxes
We continue to oppose expanding the range of services that are subject to the state sales tax. We also oppose any additional mandates on small businesses to file their taxes electronically.
Health Insurance
We realize that the cost of quality health insurance for employees of small businesses continues to increase. FUBA will oppose any efforts that will add to the cost of health insurance in this state, and we will support efforts made to lower the overall cost to employers and employees who choose to purchase such coverage.
Employment
We will oppose any attempt to expand eligibility requirements for unemployment compensation benefits. Our members do not support using their unemployment tax dollars to support employees who are taking voluntary leave or who voluntarily quit their jobs.
Constitution Initiative Process
FUBA has joined with the Florida Chamber to advocate ways to preserve the sanctity of our state’s Constitution and to prevent unnecessary amendments.
